Cleansing the Home
It is important to cleanse your home or work environment on a regular basis. This is not just cleaning but cleansing the energies of the home. It is a way of uplifting and revitalising the energies of a home or work environment. It is particularly important to cleanse your home after any arguments, illnesses and/or any form of negative energy which has entered the home.
 
Sometimes this could be just the presence of a negative person entering your home and bringing in their baggage or negative energy. You should also always cleanse a home before moving into it. Likewise, you should also cleanse a home and prepare it for the new owners when you leave it. If you have just one room or one area that you feel has a negative energy then either use a smudge stick or I work with frankincense on charcoal.
 
Smudge sticks come in various combinations. The main herb often used is sage. The combinations I like to work with are:
Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme
Deals with deep seated issues.
 
Always have a box of tissues ready. Work with this combination when you want to reclaim your life and take back your power.
Lavender Cedar and Patouchli
This combination helps you to create calmness and well as helps for you to see with clarity

It will show you the bigger picture of your needs

Excellent for emotional calmness

The cedar will help to ground you.
Lavender and Eucalyptus
 This combination helps you to cleanse, heal and to gain clarity to what you want in life and where you want to go.

Eucalyptus is also great for protection.

So excellent to cleanse, heal and protect at the same time.
Sage Cedar and Sweet grass
 This combination clears, protects and create a sense of harmony

This combination will also help you to release and to sell your home 
 
How to Cleanse the Home

When cleansing an environment work with a smudge stick to lift and remove any negative energies. Once you have cleansed with the smudge stick open the windows and doors and allow all negative energy to leave.

After a short period go through the environment you have cleansed and work with sound to invite new energies in. The sound you work with can be clapping, working with bells or wind chimes, music or chanting a mantra.

Once you have finished with working with sound in each of the areas start again from the front entry and give the environment an orange blessing.

To give an orange blessing you can either work with an purchased orange spray or you can make up your own orange spray from fresh oranges and water. (The recipe is below).

When you work with the orange spray in each of the rooms again repeat a mantra or work with an intention to invite new energies into your space. I like to work with a novena. After your meditation take the bowl and, again, starting from the front door, sprinkle the water through the home. Say a mantra or a prayer as you go.

I usually work with a novena. You can work with either a novena, a special prayer of your own or you may choose a mantra or special words that mean a lot to you. Some will often choose "I am grateful”.

The novena that I use is:

"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ be praised, blessed and adored and glorified for ever and ever. Amen.”

After the orange blessing, simply say thank you, for your wishes are on the way.
You may also like to place a fresh vase of flowers in one of the areas of your home or work environment.

Extra Notes To Take When Smudging
  • Never smudge or cleanse when you are feeling ill or angry
  • Make sure that you have time to thoroughly cleanse each room, that you do not feel rushed and that you feel a presence in each of the rooms.
  • Remember to set an intention before you smudge.
  • Take the time to think about what it is that you would like to remove and then invite into your life
  • It is usually best if you have given the area a clean before smudging
  • Make sure that you place all food and drinks away
  • Remove all jewellery before you start
  • Wash your hand so that they are clean and ready for new energy
  • It is best to work alone unless others are working with you to cleanse and set intentions
  • You do no need any music or sound while smudging.  Sounds comes after
  • Work barefoot if possible
  • Always have a shower and place the clothes that you have been wearing in the wash or dry cleaners.
Orange Spray

Fill a bowl with water ¾ full. Then take the peel of nine oranges and drop the peels into the bowl. Let it sit for 15 minutes. While the peel is sitting, take out an orange candle. Light it. Sit and visualise your intentions and what you want to bring into the home.

After your meditation take the bowl and, again, starting from the front door, sprinkle the water through the home. Say a mantra or a prayer as you go.

Cleansing with Charcoal Blocks and Frankincense

This is a really easy quick way to smudge or cleanse a room or office space.

Simply place the charcoal block in a heat resistant bowl on a bed of sand or dirt.

Light the charcoal block with match or lighter. Once you have lite the charcoal block do not touch as it becomes very hot. You will know that the block is lit when you see red sparks.

Place the charcoal block in the bowl on the sand or dirt.
Then place one – two pieces of frankincense resin on the block and allow the smoke to rise and cleanse the room.

I usually like to sit the bowl on a table in the centre of the room.

You can also use this method and walk through the home smudging each room as you go.

In my office space where I see a lot of people we cleanse with the charcoal block on a daily basis.

This is a really good exercise to do when ever you are feeling a little lost or uncertain about anything. Or you simply may be carrying extra emotional weight that you should not be carrying.
